Hey!
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything new. I’m
going to fix that now.
First and foremost, I am having the most summer-appropriate-summer since
my childhood! What does that mean exactly? Well, I slept in a tent
for the first (yes, the first) time in my life and have spent many a week-end
in the outdoors. –I even have a suntan and mosquito bites to
prove it! Hell, I’ve even visited a beach recently!
Now on to music: I had a truly amazing experience playing the KingFest Music
Festival in late June. Some musical highlights include two workshops
I participated in over this eventful week-end. The first workshop which
was fun and completely absurd included Wendell Ferguson, Al Simmons and Prairie
Oyster’s Keith Glass. My face became so sore from laughing at
Al Simmons’ antics that I thought I might not be able to sing. The
workshop ended with a Simmons song and the participants donning rather unusual
hats made by Al. My hat (helmet, really) involved grey, wool socks
which whipped me in the face via a propeller. It hurt but in a good
way. The second workshop also included Wendell as well as Katherine
Wheatley, Raymond McLain and Mike Stevens. Wendell was already one
of my guitar heroes but after hearing Katherine play, she has joined this
short list. It was a pleasure to hear Wendell and Katherine play solo
as well as together. And, it was an absolute treat to hear Raymond
McLain and Mike Stevens do their musical thing. I have to say that
hearing and meeting these gentlemen was the highlight of my weekend. Raymond
and Mike are brilliant musicians and two of the kindest and most inspiring
individuals I have ever met. Mike Stevens is the founder of ArtsCanCircle,
a non-profit agency which links creative artists with at-risk Native youth. To
get more info on ArtsCanCircle and what you can do to help, please visit: http://www.artscancircle.ca/.
Another highlight this summer was hearing Gordon Lightfoot play at Mariposa
during a lightning-thunderstorm. He risked his life to play before
an adoring audience most of whom did not have umbrellas to shelter them from
the torrential rain. It was an awesome experience to be there.
Some other highlights this summer include –at various festivals- hearing:
Lynn Miles, Old Man Luedecke, Susan Werner, Jill Barber, David Celia and
meeting The Red Heat. If you’re not familiar with these artists,
change that soon!
I’m getting a little long and windy here so I guess I should stop now. I’ve
got a few gigs coming up with The Gruff and the amazing Bob Snider and I’d
love to see you there!! As always, gig details can be found to your
right in the “upcoming events” section.
Enjoy the rest of your summer! (I know I will.)

Hey Boys & Girls,
So yeah, those of you in and around Toronto may have noticed that I've been around the last while. My traveling didn't last as long as I'd originally hoped but that's just the way life goes I guess. I did have some time to catch up on some much-needed reading, movie-watching and sleeping though. (I'd forgotten how much I love sleeping.)
Now that my hibernation is over, I'm starting to get back into the swing of things and I'm really excited about some shows I've got coming up. In May, I'll be playing the Twisted Pines Music Festival in Penetanguishene, Ontario. The line-up is looking pretty incredible with Fred Eaglesmith, Hamell on Trial and The Creaking Tree String Quartet on board. You can be sure that I'll be checking these guys out over the weekend. If you want to attend this festival and get a $20 discount, visit https://order.affinity-tickets.com/edirect/index.php?e_tv=MTM4 and use promo code: Dutra0407.
In June, there's the Kingfest Music Festival happening in King City. Bruce Cockburn, Sarah Harmer, Jim Cuddy and Sloan are headlining the festival, which will be hosted by the inimitable Wendell Ferguson. Wendell will also be doing a solo set as well as accompanying yours truly. -This will be a GREAT weekend of music!
Also in June I'll be playing the Bloor St. Music Festival at Brunswick and Bloor. The festival's happening on June 10 - PORTUGAL DAY - and will take place at Bloor & Brunswick. This festival will involve a lot of wonderful and talented musicians and will be broadcast LIVE on AIR on CIUT.
So check out the "events" section listed to the right for more info on these and other dates. I hope to see you all soon.

Hey Guys,
I've decided to take a bit of a break from performing and do some traveling and songwriting instead. I will, however, do a few last shows so if you want to see me before I go, now is the time! Please check the events page to find out where I'll be.
My travels will take me to Montreal, Providence, Austin, Memphis and Nashville before I return to the comforts of home. I'll be updating my site every now and again with news so if you want to know what I'm up to, please visit this site when you can. I look forward to sharing music with you all upon my return.
Hope 2007 is a good one for you.
THANK YOU all for your friendship and support.
Love,
Nancy

Hey!
Here we are in my favourite season. I look forward to the changing of the
leaves especially after a fun-filled and somewhat hectic summer.
Summer '07 saw the Hussification of the East Coast. I could tell you a whole
lot about the Uber Hussy Tour but it's probably best you just take a look
at some of the photos which will be posted shortly. (Come back for a visit!)
Let's just say that the tour was a whole lot of fun and that new friendships
were made while old ones were deepened. It was great to play music and see
a very beautiful part of Canada! Thank you to the Hussies, Dave Lang, Roger
Langen, Lilliany Obondo, Krista Short and all the beautiful people in Atlantic
Canada who took care of us!!
This summer I was also really happy to play at the Mariposa Folk Festival
in Orillia. It was great to have the wonderful Wendell Ferguson accompany
me. (Spoiled I am.) Some highlights include a "Far-Flung-Folk" workshop
in the beer tent with The Sun Parlour Players, Lucie Idlout and Cassandra
Rutherford as well as a country-themed workshop with Wendell Ferguson, Michael
Brennan, Dave Tufford and Caitlin Hanford. It was humbling to stand next
to such awesome talent and cool folks.
Up ahead are some gigs which are posted on the events section. I'll be busy
with playing and some life changes in the next few months. I'm looking forward
to what's ahead.
Wishing you a Happy Fall.

Hello and Welcome!
Thanks to the talents and efforts of Adrian Kostic
of Kaustic Design, I now have a home on the web. -A nice-looking home I might
add. Here you can check out some song samples and see when I'll be playing
in and around your part of town. Better yet, if you sign up to my email
list you will automatically be notified of upcoming events.
So stay awhile and take a good look around. I'd love
to know what you think.
Fancily,
Nancy
